The Ribble Valley is stone cottages, converted barns, period farmhouses and a growing number of high-specification new builds. Older stone properties almost never have a square room, and they often have deep window reveals, thick walls and low beams that a catalogue kitchen simply cannot be made to fit. Barn conversions bring the opposite problem: very large rooms where standard cabinet heights look mean and a bespoke tall run or a proper island is needed to hold the space together.
This is the type of job where making our own cabinets matters most. When a run has to stop at 1,847mm because of a stone reveal, we build a carcass at 1,847mm rather than fitting a 1,800mm unit and filling the rest with a strip of matching board. It costs no more, because we are the factory.
