Wigan's older housing is largely terraced, built for the pits and the mills, and concentrated around Pemberton, Ince and Hindley. Those kitchens are typically narrow with a back door in an inconvenient place, and they reward careful planning more than expensive doors. Standish, Shevington, Orrell and Appley Bridge are a different proposition: bigger inter-war and modern detached houses, often with a separate utility and space for an island, where the job is usually a full replacement to a higher specification.
Because the drive is longer, we plan a Wigan job to be installed in as few visits as possible rather than dipping in and out over a fortnight.
